Boost to grassroots films
London Mayor Boris Johnson has announced increased funding to develop grassroots filmmaking talent by doubling the money for film projects including the London Borough Film Fund Challenge to £10,000. The scheme, currently available in 15 boroughs will be extended to all London boroughs. Plans are also being considered for a London Film Day to host special film screenings and educational events across in the capital.
Film sales opportunity
Skillset in partnership with Film London and Film Export are looking for applicants for its Market Place - New Entrant Training Scheme for the Sales Sector. There are six places on this comprehensive work placement and training scheme. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to undertake a paid, six-month job placement supported by a full six-month training course. The deadline is Thursday 13th November 2008. British talent celebrated
British Creative Exchange, the UK‘s premier national event for celebrating the contribution of British-based international talent to the cultural landscape, has secured the ‘first great female architect’ Zaha Hadid as its principal patron for 2008. The event, which runs from 24th-30th November, will also feature debates with representation from MTV and Channel 4, dance hall dialogue sessions with Jonzi D, a Film London event on 21st Century Film Festivals, including a private screening of Shifty, as well as workshops and a closing night party.
